Design & Brand

My roots are in classic design, print, packaging, branding. That foundation gives me an eye for craft that most pure UX folks don't have, and it shows in the work.

UI & UX Design

I've spent my career developing both UI and UX skills in parallel. The result is that I can own the full design surface, from system architecture down to pixel-level execution.

Product Strategy

Most product folks I've worked with are project managers in disguise. I came to strategy through UX and bring a user-behavior lens to roadmap decisions that PMs typically don't.

User Analytics

Pendo changed how I work. Having behavioral data tied directly to the product means decisions are grounded in what users actually do, not what stakeholders think they do.

Coaching & Mentoring

I spent seven years as design faculty at AI of Washington and Dulles. I still believe in demystifying how great products get built.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

I’m your typical burb dad trying to find cool projects to free myself from the tech grind. Currently residing outside of Washington DC.

Font Design

I’ve released 12 typefaces over the years and am always looking to do more. Type design is cathartic for me, but takes a lot of time. Looking to do more if I ever retire!

CrossFit & Weight Training

I’ve been doing CrossFit for over 10 years… poorly at best. Lifting is a big piece of my life so you’ll find me at the gym on most days. Not much for dieting, been on a 5-year dirty bulk (pizza fan).

Teaching

Was faculty at AI of Washington/Dulles for 7 years and it felt great to give back to the next generation of design. Hoping to get back to teaching… maybe another retirement project

Fine Arts

Came up through painting, sculpture, and printmaking. Like most design folks I really wanted to be an artist… but sold out! Another interest for the retirement stack!
